Luke turns 6 - April 24, 2009

Luke turned 6 last Friday. I sent cupcakes into school for his entire class. Saturday, Luke scored one of the 2 goal scored by the Wildfires. In the afternoon we took a dozen of Luke's family and friends to the Bowling Alley for his 6th Birthday Party. Luckily, fingers and toes remained in tact. Luke's cake was a Dinosaur cake, he says he will have Star Wars for 7th and Indiana Jones for his 9th birthday (he is mesmerized by Indiana Jones and tries to emulate him, down to the brown leather jacket.).

Many Faces of Matthew

Matthew knows how to work his mother! Look at that face!

Soccer Practice and Game

Luke has been loving soccer. He enjoys practicing and really is working hard to improve. Luke has been working with me and the coach on his dribbling and passing. The coach noticed the extra work and complimented him after the practice. At his game last Saturday, Luke scored one of the two goals scored during the game and he was very aggressive.

Flip-Floppers (Literally)

Mark and I are officially flip-floppers. We gave in and bought the boys a trampoline. In the past we were worried that the boys would get hurt on a trampoline but we have been converted (or we are ready for the possibillity that they might get hurt). We put up a fence in February and got the trampoline in April. It has been cold one day, sunny and warm the next. Raining for a few days and dry periodically but the boys, Mark and I are having fun on the trampoline.

Spring Break - New York

On Luke's Spring Break from Kindergarten we went to Brooklyn, New York. Matthew, Luke and myself got up early Monday morning to head to LaGuardia Airport. Getting to the airport and boarding the airplane was easy. The hard part was when the Captain informed the passengers that we were not getting into New York, we were diverting and landing in Baltimore. The boys did pretty well with the flight, they even laughed when we had turbulence. Matthew was giggling hysterically, even when adults looked terrified by the bumps. We stayed on the ground in Baltimore for 3 hours until they opened New York airports again. The flight left Atlanta at 6:40 am and we finally arrived in New York at 2 pm. Thalia picked us up from the airport and brought us to her apartment in Brooklyn. We walked around her neighborhood. Tuesday we took the train into Manhattan and went to the American Natural Museum of History (aka Night at the Museum). It was awesome! After the museum we walked around Manhattan with the boys. Thalia and I ate at Gray's Papaya hotdogs and Buttercup Bake shop infamous for cupcakes and baked goods. The boys did a great job on the train and in the city. Wednesday afternoon Thalia took us to the Prospect Park Zoo, about 5 miles from her home in Brooklyn. It was a little zoo but the boys had a fun time all the same. Thursday morning at 2 am we drove to Connecticut to get on a flight home. (All the flights from NY and NJ were oversold.) I thought the boys would be so tired they would fall asleep on the flight home, it didn't happen. Luke and I colored pictures and Matthew made friends with the kids in the row behind us. They are becoming quite the travelers. Matthew,Luke and myself had a fun Spring Break in NY.
